Olivia Fisz is a four year DECA member and a senior from Deerfield High School. She is incredibly honored and excited to serve as the President of 2024-2025 Illinois DECA State Action Team!

Much has changed since Olivia walked into her first DECA meeting as a freshman. DECA opened Olivia’s eyes to the business world and allowed her to discover her passion for business and finance. Through DECA, she has become a better communicator, competitor, and leader. Not only that, but the friends that Olivia has made through DECA is a big part of why she has loved her time in it. Last year, Olivia served as the Vice President of Member Engagement for the State Action Team, which has given her a determination to continue her goal of providing the best DECA experience for every member of Illinois DECA.

Olivia is currently a co-president of her school’s chapter, which she is proud to say has grown to over 300 members! Meetings can be chaotic, but she loves every second of them. For all of her time in DECA, Olivia has spent her time in finance events; she competed in Principles of Finance as a first-year member and Business Finance for the past two years. One of Olivia’s proudest accomplishments has been qualifying for ICDC in the past three years. Her time in Atlanta, Orlando, and Anaheim have been some of her favorite memories of all of high school. This year, she is looking forward to competing in Business Finance yet again, and she is hoping to make it to ICDC again this year!

Outside of DECA, Olivia is a captain for her school’s congressional debate team. She is also a member of the robotics and scholastic bowl teams. In school, her favorite classes have been Economics, Business Incubator, and this year, Accounting. She is really hoping that her new accounting knowledge will pay off in her DECA event this year! After DECA helped her realize her passion for business and leadership, Olivia has taken every opportunity to learn more about those things and devote her time to them. She has taken classes over the summer at different college programs that focus on finance and investing, which is what she wants to do in her future career. She hopes that all of these activities will help her work towards her dream of managing her own investment fund one day.

In her free time, Olivia loves spending time with her friends, listening to music, and watching movies. Her favorite artist is SZA, and she also loves Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, and Tyler, The Creator. Her favorite movie is The Social Network. With her friends, she loves going shopping, getting Starbucks, and more.

Olivia is so excited to be the President of Illinois DECA’s State Action Team this year and make Illinois DECA the best it can be. She can’t wait to support each member in their journey to Be the One this year with DECA!
