Bibiane Kan is a four-year DECA member and a senior at Naperville North High School in Naperville, Illinois. As a self-proclaimed food connoisseur, the lure of the promise of free pizza at the monthly Prep Nights was the primary reason as to why she chose to join DECA her freshman year. However, she has now been part of her chapter’s Executive Board for the past three years, and is highly involved in all things DECA, whether that be in terms of organizing fundraising and philanthropy events, helping members prepare for competitions, or planning the weekly meetings.
As current President of the Naperville North DECA chapter, Bibiane has been working towards increasing DECA’s accessibility to all students, especially from the financial aspect. Similarly, her main goals for Illinois DECA this year include increasing funding for all local chapters and revamping the ilcollaborate.org website to ensure that all chapters have access to free resources to assist them in further developing their organization.
Throughout her DECA experience, Bibiane has earned recognition at all levels of competition in the Accounting Applications competitive event, and placed first at the Illinois DECA Career Development Conference her junior year. Outside of DECA, she is involved in her school’s Math Team, Orchesis Dance Troupe, and Business Professionals of America club. Bibiane plans to pursue a major in either Finance or Accounting so that she can continue exploring the intersectionalities between business and math; her dream career is to be an investment consultant or financial analyst on Wall Street.
